Oak Apples galls

Of course we are all used to acorns but don't so often see oak apples. Those neat round holes look perfectly drilled. Had a busy day in the garden,lots of bonfire stoking and clearing out the chrysanths and dahlias to make ready to plant new daffodils for spring.
