Odd One Out
A busy day working at Kat's allotment!
My job was weeding, something I can be left to do! The Man and The Daughter dug out some diseased raspberries a few hawthorns and a couple of sycamores that had snuck into the "hedge". The previous tenant had probably planted the hawthorn as a windbreak but it wasn't working on this exposed site. Kat feels that fruit cordons will provide a crop as well as some shielding.
They also did a couple of trips to the tip with rubbish and a trip to buy some manure and paving slabs.
By the time we put our tools away I felt we had made a big difference. Kat only got this allotment earlier this year and has done well to get the beds so well organised with wooden edges and bark-chip paths between. There are empty spaces (see Extra) as she's had quite a bit to take home for meals, we had some in a cauliflower stir fry tonight.
Starlings were gathering on the nearby wires but I noticed there was an odd one amongst them! It will soon be time to look for murmurations.
