Goo oogle
Before we left Carmel this morning we took a drive along "17 mile drive", one of the most prestigious addresses on the west coast and home to three world class golf courses, spearheaded by Pebble Beach. We even had to pay $10 for the privilege of driving along the route....it was worth it though. We were rewarded with stunning sea views, ancient cypresses and astonishing mansions. A quick walk on the beach and a sandwich and then we were off to San Francisco .... And sadly there was no flower in my hair! I hope you are singing along!
The first impressions are that San Francisco is a very vibrant, modern city and while we waited to meet up with our hosts for the next couple of days we sought out a spot where we could walk Kymba. We found ourselves in the huge complex that is Google where there were landscaped parks, water (greenly re-cycled) and these zingy bikes in Google colours, buzzing everywhere, ridden by Google employees utilising a drop and pick up facility. Two employees arrived on these bikes while we were chilling in the shade and we noticed that one had the logo "go fit" on the back of his T Shirt and he started to give the other chap instructions for a work out..... Presumably he was a personal trainer? Anyway, I just loved the bikes and they even had green wheels!
I am posting this from a Starbucks in downtown San Francisco where we have enjoyed a refreshing drink, Kymba has had her supper and there is free wi-Fi. We are now about to meet up with our hosts after their busy and long day at work.
Thanks to all of you who are travelling with me, despite my lack of comments on your own journals, because it is really great to be sharing this adventure with you.
