All Saints

After an uneventful drive, we arrived at my sister's house in Kenton in time for a delicious afternoon tea of superbly light and fluffy scones, home-made tayberry jam and clotted cream, which we ate sitting in warm sunshine on their new decking area.

We then went for a stroll round the village, to stretch our legs after the long car journey. Lots of interesting south-western plants to see on the walls and along the stream, but perhaps the highlight was the church, which contained a fine set of Medieval wall-paintings portraying various saints on the wainscoting.

We settled into the evening with a couple of rhubarb gins and ginger ale,  followed by roast chicken, local cheeses and some rather decadent chocolates. And the conversation flowed continuously as we caught up on the last thirty years!
