Backroads

I always sleep really well when it's raining, so maybe it's no surprise that I slept through an apparent downpour, last night. When I woke up, this morning, the water was still coming down and the world outside the window was soaked.

In fact, it was raining so hard that I even gave Dan and Abi a lift to school, which, I should make clear, is at the end of the road.

And as it was raining so hard and evidently had been for a while, I decided to go along the A65 as the back roads tend to get flooded. However, even then this main(ish) road had pools of water where I'd never seen them before and by the time we were approaching Lupton, the traffic was grinding to a halt.

So I decided to take to the backroads, anyway, even though I knew there would be some deepish pools along the way. Here's one of them pictured. Still, I made it to the office safely, if a little late for my first meeting.

It was only spitting by the time I got to Chorley in the evening, though, so I was, happily, able to get out for a run.
