Went to Bassenthwaite for a walk this afternoon as it was meant to be misty and foggy.  It wasn't!  Anyhow this beech tree in the car park was looking absolutely fabulous.  Had a walk down by the lake.  Couldn't walk very far despite wearing wellies as the water levels are very high at the moment and lots of the grass was under water. Sad to see a dead sheep in the water. On the way back to the car park a lady showed me all the snails (2nd Extra) by the tunnel which goes under the A66.  I can't believe I've never noticed them before.  There were hundreds of them.  Back at the car and decided to go across the road and along another track to look at the waterfall, first Extra.
