Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2017 Thursday -- Rosie & Mr. Fun

Every now and then, I think to hand my camera (phone) to someone else to capture what I cannot.

Late this afternoon we met our granddaughter, Desiree, and our great grandkids, Tristan and Jade, at a local restaurant, Marie Callender's, which is renown for its many varieties of pies.

I have been hungry for pumpkin pie. So mid-morning I sent a text to Desiree asking if they would be available to have pie with us when Tristan got out of school. The answer was "yes!" We were delighted.

Shortly after arriving at the pie place, I gave Tristan my phone and asked him to take photos. I have him to thank for this one.

Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol

P.S. This was written Friday, November 10, 2017 -- The above entry was written on the day that was the last morning our daughter woke-up at our home. She has been living with us for the past 28 months, but the past month of so, actually since we arrived home the end of summer, her attitude hasn't been good toward us (we've had a few disagreements about some issues), so one week ago this evening, as she left here to go spend the weekend in Laughlin, Nevada, she said something quite awful to her dad. He said then that she needed to find her own place. She returned here Sunday afternoon, after three nights in Laughlin, and announced that she was going to go stay with her friend, Susie, for a couple nights because Susie's dog was going in for surgery on Monday. We thought maybe that was the end of living with us, but then she was back on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and starting to act like everything was okay and back to normal, and that was why her dad said today that "It is now time to find a place." Once he said that she just simply made her exit and did not return. It took a month for her to get her things out -- today, Friday, November 10 -- she as finally left with all her belongings. Two bedrooms here are now empty and several shelves in a couple of the kitchen cupboards and also empty. It was good to have her here (when she wanted to be here), but it is also now good to have the house back to ourselves. So for 29 months she has had free rent and utilities in exchange for watching the house for us when we were gone for my long breaks from school (8 weeks from mid-December to mid-February and 12 weeks from early June to late August) and she was to do the housekeeping (we let our "every-other-week" housekeeper go), but our daughter would only do the cleaning when we were on gone on weekends to our Central Coast retirement house. She was paying $850.00 a month rent for an apartment before she moved in with us and obviously paying for her own utilities. So we think that is a big chunk of change that she did not have to spend while leaving here. I'm putting that here just for my own documentation.
