But, then again . . . . .

As part of the science festival in The Borders, I was down at the Carmichael Estate where they were promoting the pollinators. My role was to take along my virtual bee hive (in reality, a real hive full of photographs of bees instead of live ones; it has the advantage (or should that be disadvantage) of not harming any children), a few posters, and give a short talk about bees.

That actualité was that I spent a couple of minutes talking about bees followed by a Q & A session. The latter lasted several hours: when we were kicked out of the lecture room, people followed me asking questions, they carried on while I was packing up and didn’t stop while I was loading the car. They did, however, stop short of running up the road behind the car shouting questions after me. I think that qualifies as a success.

The gentleman in the Blip was part of a trio who sang silly songs about all sorts of insects, flowers, fruit and veg. While he and his sidekick made an excellent job of making themselves look like village idiots, the third member was a smartly dressed, svelte young lady who accompanied them on her ‘cello. I’ve been kicking myself for not having pictures of the other two individuals, but then it was a busy day.
