a challenging day
...by the time we were free to get out, the challenges already presented by rain and gale force winds had been exacerbated by the poor evening light of shorter autumn days. On top of that, the only shelter was under the trees, all of which meant balancing the choice between limited DoF and high ISO.
In the end, I came home with a few images of only two subjects. The most interesting was an adult Dock Bug, Coreus marginatus, that was hiding in the bracken. Unfortunately, my images are not good enough and ended up in the Trash, which left only this little fellow. I am not at all happy with the DoF but at least the head and thorax are sufficiently in focus to save me from being blip-less! I am not 100% sure of the id but I think it is a cluster fly, most probably Pollenia rudis...
