After Hours

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

I stayed up too late last night. I think when Er Indoors is not here it throws me off a little.

Or maybe it's just that I found a treasure-trove of old Twilight Zone episodes on the YouTubes and watched a few. I love staying up late with tea and toast and watching creepy things, but it can backfire. I watched an episode called "The After Hours" which freaked me out so much I had to stay up and watch reassuring things* for a couple of hours.

I really shouldn't be left on my own, you know.

But Punky the cat will not accept any excuses. He was up bright and early with the lark and the tui this morning and decided that 5.30am was quite late enough for me to sleep as well.

He tried his usual purr and finesse to wake me up and when that didn't work he did his Olga Korbut routine on the bedhead. He walked back and forth, back and forth, chirping merrily (he's not really a meower, except when he's cross or scared).

I was determined not to give in. If I give in at 5.30 today, it will be 5.15 tomorrow.

Not giving in (chirp).
NOT giving in (chirp chirp).
NO (chirp breep chirp).
NOPE (breep breep purr).
Punky I MEAN it (chirp breep chirp).
I am a ROCK. Immovable! Unyielding! Do your WORST, Punky! (chirp).
Oh b*gger now I need to PEE (breep breep).
NO. NO. NO. I will NOT give in! (breepy breepy breep).
Oh all right then! DAMN YOU BLADDER! (breep breep yay!)

So I guess I'll be seeing you all at 5.15am tomorrow. But for now, we're heading to a dimension between sssight and sssound**.

I never learn.

S.
