A slice of Lesley's life

Back to School

I’m slightly distracted watching Celebrity Hunted for Stand Up for Cancer. Let it just be known that when I grow up I want to be Anneka Rice.

Am unwinding after an evening PTA meeting at Anna’s new school. Haven’t quite worked out my level of involvement just yet but am making an effort to get to at least know some other Year 7 parents.

Am also holding back a little as I made some steps on a different volunteering opportunity today.

J had a hospital appointment. Tiny bit disappointing as we were really hoping he might be discharged but the doc wants to hold on to him for a little bit longer. They did want him to do another day curve but Carl did a great negotiation for them to do an early morning one off reading in February instead. Totally understand why the doc wants the full test to complete the story but you may well recall what a stressful experience it is and unless there is a good medical reason for it we think the boy has been through enough.

So not officially signed off until February but actually if that test is fine he won’t actually see the doc again. And Carl said the doc basically had a big grin on her face and was thrilled with how Jackson is doing.

I have been very mindful all day that it is World Mental Health Day. I seem to know a lot of people dealing with many issues at the moment, either directly themselves or with a loved one. I’m not always a big fan of every day being a day for something as it can come over a bit glib. But reminders that people are all going through various levels of stuff and that we should all be kinder to ourselves and everyone else is no bad thing. Right now we as a family are fortunate enough to be able to put into the collective bank of love and goodness. Many times over the past 33 months we have made large withdrawals and leant on the support of others.
