TinyTuesday 124: What's in a Name?

I dedicate this to our brothers and sisters in California. Wild fires are decimating thousands and thousands of acres of land, homes and businesses! The photos and video on the news are horrifying!

These are the tiny blooms of a native Florida plant called 'Flyr's Nemesis' Brickellia cordifolia. It's a very rare Florida wildflower, known to occur in only 5 counties in FL along the Georgia and Alabama border in the panhandle of our state. It's a state-listed endangered species and is limited worldwide to only these Florida counties and a few places in Georgia and Alabama. There is known to be a small, separate population here in Gainesville. We have a small 'patch' of Flyr's Nemesis growing in our back yard. It's very popular with the butterflies. I LOVE it's name! I'm assuming that someone named 'Flyr' discovered it.

Many thanks to Wendy, wrperry for hosting TinyTuesday for the month of October!
