Dana's Rock River

I love the way Dana just pops in to check on her handiwork and see if OilMan has any heavy lifting for her to do. Life here in the Wildwood garden seems to be  a constant effort to track down leaks in the irrigation system and lately, as an added bonus, our giant pot fountain on the back patio. The pot is incredibly heavy, even when empty as it is right now, and has a very sharp yucca planted right next to it making it almost impossible to get close enough to the pot to move it. I felt it had gotten too big and should be taken out but OilMan said no. It turns out that OilMan just didn't want to tackle it, but Dana made short work of cutting off the spiky ends, and digging the whole thing up. Then she and I were able to get close enough to the vessel to tip it and level it.

The irrigation system is more complex. Much of it is hidden underground and it often falls victim to rodents, low pressure, high pressure, digging dogs or blown heads. For now, tracking down leaks is just about the right level of activity for OM as he recuperates, and fixing it doesn't require any lifting of heavy objects.. 

In aid of locating a one which is possibly hidden underneath a huge grass next to the herb garden, I cut it back. It seems that we toil to get little plants to grow and then we toil to cut them down or take them out when we succeed. The cycle of the garden....

Dana's rock river is finished and has been planted out with some very young plants. It's a difficult thing to photograph, but the "pond" part at the bottom is just about where the giant blue agave was. The sunflowers were volunteers, probably planted by some passing bird.The big rock at top left was completely hidden by the agave and there is no question of moving it now that it has been revealed. Fortunately we like it, and it doesn't grow, die or have to be watered.
