Printmaking

This weekend a lot of the local artists' studios are open to visit. Quite a few are located in the old mill buildings so we wandered down to one of those and had a shufty. There was a real mix of skills and everyone was delighted to chat about their work (with the hope that we'd buy something of course!). Our final visit was with a printmaker and she was letting folk run off prints on the same kind of machine used by her college students. Memento!

In the evening we visited a renovated cinema downtown, the Parkway, now being used for film festivals and for showing independent films. The renovation of the original theatre is still underway but so far it's looking fantastic. We were in a new additional theatre to see The Challenge, basically about a few of the excesses of the Quatar ruling class, which is an hour of stunning photography, an insight into falcon racing and that's about it! Worth it to see the desert though!
