Wood's adventures

Gretal has just crawled along the top of the sofa, plonking her head on Ad's shoulder...it had to to be blipped.

She has been under the weather since Friday and we had to debate whether to visit the vets on Sunday...a phonecall and some advice later and we were content to see how she went until today and thankfully she seems to be on the mend. But it is horrible to think that, despite insurance, your decision on accessing health care is based on the cost (£125 on a Sunday afternoon to just see the vet, before any treatment). It has reminded me, not that I need reminding very often, how lucky we are to have the NHS. When it comes to human beings we just don't have to contemplate whether we can afford to go to the Drs, hospital etc, or which tests we can afford to have. Thank goodness. I work with enough people who make choices regularly between food and heat, again, thank goodness they don't have to chuck in medical care into that dilemma. Some americans (and the odd idiot Tory MEP) dismissively refer to this as socialised medicine. Too damn right. Sign of a civilised society if you ask me, and I'm more than happy to pay my taxes so it is accessable to all.

Rant over.

Aren't these two too cute...but I really don't think she is ready to share him!
