The beer festival has been a tradition since 20upteen... might have even been 19upmteem.

The kids were wee anyways,

When we had the kids we decided that the kids were what it was about. They would
Be kids til maybe 18 or 19. What was 18 or 19 years out of our life. Nothing.

So on a Saturday in October we would leave the kids with gran and at 3. Drop down to the festival. Partake in a few beers and come home about 8. Pished as ferts ..: put the kids to bed and pass out.

That was it. One of our two days out a year. That was all. But we were happy.

And we stI'll do it. I can't tell you how many we have done but Boy Joined us when he was 16. :). Tooli waited til she was 18.

Today we sat next to a family who had a 18 year old who flicked the bird every time her dad asked her something.

We got into conversation and I said 'we used to have one of those, they are great fun eh?'

And the mum said 'when' 'when do they become great fun

When I told her where ours were I got the ever reliable 'what did you do to make me them go away' but as soon as she said It she said, 'it's what they should do isn't it?' 'Make their own way. Aren't the goodbyes awful?

The worst I said... but, on the other hand while we' have been sitting here one of them has phoned to say night night. The other has phoned to let me see him playing beach volleyball in Wilimington.

It doesn't get better

And the daughter, for The first time, smiled
