The 9 months of the horrors of pregnancy, the excruciating pain of childbirth, the wreck that my body became afterwards, the sleepless nights, the bloody breastfeeding, the baby groups, the loss of my career and with it a large part of my identity, self respect and independence, the constant patronising condescension when people hear I'm just a mum, the shitty nappies, the illnesses, the teething, the potty training, the Night Garden...... all made worthwhile in that one moment.
