100 mile journey

to the dentist and back. (Was more, but I had to work a 100 in somewhere.)

Went to a dentist in Coggeshall, 26 miles away. After the first visit he was worth it. Poor C, who was just chaufeuring, was booked in for an appointment after mine when a patient cancelled.

Then we took the very long scenic route to Lowestoft to get smoked mackerel at the Anchor Smoke House: Earl's Colne, Wakes Colne, Bures, Assington, where we had breakfast at the Artisan Tea Room & bought a few things at the farm shop, Boxford, Elmsett, Needham Market, Debenham, Thorndon, Eye, Harleston, Bungay & Beccles.

The smokehouse didn't have mackerel; because of the weather there is not many English mackerell and the Icelandic ones aren't any good. We got some hot roast smoked salmon & undyed (not undead!) smoked kippers instead. The friendly owner showed us around & explained how they do the do.

Had the salmon with mixed salad (tomatoes, cucumber, nectarine & spring onion with soy sauce, olive oil & fennel seeds), beetroot & slaphakskeentjies for tea with a Loadline Merlot Tempranillo from South Eastern Australia. Was Yum. We're glad we got more for later in the week.

It rained when we wanted to walk on the sea front, so we came home. Rained pretty much the whole day. Thanks C for driving!
