Smorgasbord

We were astonished to see the Billabong and water bowls absolutely covered in tiny insects tonight. It has happened before but perhaps not in such great numbers. Of course the birds were delighted and the Currawong looked like he couldn't believe his luck.

I have added an extra image of a bower bird in a similar pose on the other side of the tank. Now we are surmising that this is how two of the bower birds must have come to drown in the lower tank when we were away in Bundaberg. I certainly made sure the tanks were full enough that they could feast on the little bugs without having to drop into the tank. I have now idea why this happened but will try and speak to a wise person who might have an answer to the phenomenon.
