Pumpkins
We went to Füssen to get an Umweltplakette for the van, a badge that gives you access to city centres in Germany. This is similar to the scheme that Sadiq Khan wants to introduce for London; it’s caused a real stushie there, but it only affects older style diesels and petrol powered cars. We make a huge fuss and Germany has had the scheme for years. It cost us €6.60, whereas you can get it online here, for Germany, for £16.95; what a rip off. You just take your vehicle registration document to a TÜV (equivalent to MOT station) and they issue you with one. We then cycled to the centre and spent longer than we meant wandering around this lovely town. We got some money in a bank and had a long chat with a couple; she German and he originally from England. They have lived near Füssen for years and he had never thought of taking citizenship until the Brexit vote. The Monday after he phoned to ask how to apply and was told he was one of many. Unlike people’s experiences here he found the whole thing easy, and he became a dual national within 6 weeks. I envy him. The extra is the ultimate love lock on a bridge over the Lech in Füssen. The blip is taken just outside town at a self-serve stall for pumpkins; the light over the Bavarian Alps was great.
Yesterday’s blip.
