Chinese Lantern

The coincidence of a beautiful harvest moon and the bacchanalian revelry at the Mooncake Festival at our local Malaysian restaurant last night, was the incentive for an insomniac like me to engage in Chinese lantern photography at 2.30am, when other sensible people are basking in the land of nod.

With an ex marine / fireman sleeping in the house, I was terrified that lighting the tea light inside the paper lantern would have the house go up in flames and my having to get a fireman's lift to safety in my nightie. His Lordship would have had to look after himself.

And so, holding the lit lantern in one hand and standing close to the sink in case of a conflagration, and have the camera in the other is not a brilliant way to go about things, but you get the gist.

With a ration of two and a half hours of sleep to keep me going, the rest of the day has seen a trip with our guest to Kinross for a get together with a mutual friend with whom we all cycled in Vietnam and South Africa.
It was a lunch date with much reminiscing and the catching up of news.

It is noteworthy that, with my subtle praise of his Lordship's culinary skills in the pasta area, he has agreed to do the necessary for supper tonight.
Womanly wiles are a greatly underestimated.
