The recovery process

The way to a bear's heart (and many animals I suspect!) is definitely through their stomach :). I thought you might all like an update on Faith, the lovely lady we had to remove an eye from last week. She's not liking her hospital cage as much as her spacious dens and enclosure, but overall she is doing very well. The suture line is great and she is hoovering her food and medicated shakes like there is a famine about to break out!

Most of our bears take medication really well in blended fruit shakes which is what I'm giving Faith in this picture. Although some can be extremely fussy and require tastier treats to tempt them! Marshmallows and honey or yoghurt often work well for really fussy bears ;). Hopefully she can be reunited with her den mates in another week after her wound is fully healed.
