Monday: 50's Homage
We drove south from Carmel to Big Sur - the road was absolutely fantastic and included some pretty stunning scenery. We had to drive there and back on the same road, as the highway 1, south of Big Sur, was recently washed away in a landslide. It was still worth it.
From there, we drove to San Luis Obispo - a very straight road along some very unforgiving scenery. Dry hills, arid fields - but it was lovely to see as all I could think of was the inspiration behind one of my favourite authors, John Steinbeck.
On to San Luis Obispo - we did the quickest circuit around town. It's cute but could really be anywhere - our accommodation, on the other hand.......... I am in love with an inanimate object. We are staying in the most stylish 50's time warp - our hotel is not a stop off, it's a way of life! On checking in, we rapidly decided we weren't going anywhere.........particularly as there were pools and hot tubs....
