eye for detail

Macro photography is hit and miss. You see something, you get close. You focus snap, bracket snap, light snap and still the image is nothing like what you see with the naked eye. The eye is an amazing thing. It can focus instantaneously. I can see far away and close within a nano second. I see and can differentiate between hundreds of shades of colour. I can see you, read your mood, emotion. I can acknowledge your presence by eye movement. I can show disgust and joy through my eyes. What an amazing thing! In Jewish scripture, there is a term used describing someone as "the apple of my eye". The apple of the eye is the image of you, inverted, that you can see in someone's eye when you are  standing close to them, talking to them. A mini me! An "apple" can only displayed if you are standing physically close to a person. Hence it became a term used to describe affection.. being so close to someone that their image appears in your eye. What a gift to give to someone and what a privilege to receive from someone.
