It's a mystery

My entry for today is a tree that I photographed on my walk to the supermarket. Unfortunately I have no idea what it actually is and I'm also not certain whether this is a flower or a seed head.

The only things I can recall from this day is working in the morning but finishing not too late for once, dropping off some shopping at home, going off out again to the supermarket nearest to the apartment for a few more things and then finally letting Casper out of his pen.
