Carved (Day 878)

I woke expecting to hear the wind howling and rain battering on the windows. Instead, the weather sounded remarkably benign. The dogs and I had a reasonably pleasant wander up the hill under a moody sky.
Back at home, my beautiful wife was getting ready to go off hossing, so I headed to the shed to get on with the carving commission.
The first strike of the chisel on new bit of stone is the most difficult to make. Once a mark is made, it can't be removed. It also tells me how difficult the stone will be to carve. The first cut told me that today's stone was going to be difficult. I worked on until lunchtime, and a very very wet walk at Wasdale. Then spent the rest of the afternoon carving. The stone is nearly finished, but it has taken far longer than I expected.
I thought a macro of a small part of the carving would make a reasonable blip today.
More of my carving can be seen here if you are interested...
