Giovanni Falzone - Trumpet

I am participating in a workshop for portrait photography this weekend with Andrea Boccalini. What an amazing photographer and orator.  He has a very impressive list of artists that he's photographed and mostly jazz musicians.  A friend of his is Giovanni Falzone who was kind enough to come along this afternoon to give us all a chance to photograph him. I think he has a few new fans. :) 

I am still trying to soak in all the information today and bring it into my mentality. It is a very different approach from my street photography and a far cry from my comfort zone. Other than the technical aspects of making a good photo and setting it up correctly, there is a lot of direction and orchestration of the photographer to put the subject at ease, find the thread to connect on some level and direct the shoot to arrive at something relevant and interesting. Andrea was mostly pushing on this front today as the key to really making a significant photo.
