Goodbye Mandraki Harbour

Our boat is under one of those masts you can see by the castle in the distance, taken through one of the many defensive holes in the city walls. We mainly spent time in the old town of Rhodes today, a rabbit warren of tiny streets turned into a heaving tourist market, doing the "tourist" things with G and D, the junior Rhodes. We came here to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary..... and to experience the Island with the same surname as us. So it is only fitting that we had a sort of reflection selfie in the Museum of the Order of St. John (see extra, and if you like, a second extra, another sunrise from Mandraki sea wall). Now we have left G and D to fly back to the States via Zurich where the Swiss family will meet up with them in the airport as they have a long wait between flights. Meanwhile David and I have found our little apartment hotel not far from the airport but very close to the sea. We will relax here, exploring a bit more of the Island by car.

Again many thanks for following this travelogue and especially for appreciating the sunrises and sunsets!
