Herring girls

..or at least a painting of them. I seriously struggled today to find time for the camera, plus I found I had messed up some of my settings, so I've taken a photo of on of my favourite paintings. 'Herring girls' worked in the hey-day of the herring industry following the herring fishing round the British Isles - Stornoway, Shetland, Fraserburgh,   Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth etc. Hard work, but prized for the independence and camaraderie it afforded them.
