A Bird Day
Osuzanna and I spent a lovely early fall morning at Huntley Meadows, looking for birds from the boardwalk. It's a beautiful setting and we were rewarded by spotting Red-winged Blackbirds, (this image is a female), herons, egrets and bluebirds. The biggest surprise was the Red-headed Woodpecker (see extra). I have never seen one before. Unfortunately this isn't the greatest shot because it was taken at a distance. The list of birds on the pamphlet provided by the Visitor Center doesn't even mention them. According to a photographer we met there, they appeared about two years ago. Fortunately they are there in the winter, so of course Suzanne and I will be checking that out.
