White gouache on white card - why paint a difficult subject with normal media when you can make it more difficult by using a technically more tricky medium?
The next step is to cover the whole thing with Indian Ink, allow it to dry and then wash the gouache out from under the ink, revealing the picture in white on black.....theoretically. Thick gouache leaves it perfectly white, thin gouache allows some ink to reach the board and develop tone - the teacher's words, not mine.
