Boiled Eggs and Toast Soldiers

I worked as a waiter when I was 15 and got a chance to appreciate good, simple food.  There’s nothing better than a boiled egg with toast.

I absolutely agree!  It was one of those dull, overcast days when we needed a light on in the kitchen to eat our lunch.  My husband says ‘do you fancy boiled eggs and soldiers’?  You know the feeling when a suggestion is just perfect?  it was one of those moments.
So, that’s exactly what we had, he cooked the eggs to soft perfection, and I toasted the soldiers and liberally spread them with proper butter, a sprinkling of salt and pepper was added to the egg…and it was delicious!
