Loss
I was awoken this morning to the phone ringing on my bedside table. I glanced at the clock while reaching for the phone trying to shake off sleep and it read 5:30. I remember thinking with dread that it was rarely good news at this hour. On the other end of the line was my son saying he was on his way to the hospital following the ambulance transporting his wife. Ten weeks into an unexpected pregnancy my daughter in law had begun miscarrying and was hemorrhaging. At the hospital she endured several procedures before she was deemed fit to come home late in the day. All’s well physically.
The end of an unborn life that was a surprise to begin with. A new life we had already begun to anticipate with excitement yet not meant to be. And even though we’ve been blessed with 7 grandchildren, I would’ve so gladly welcomed another.
Today I said good bye to the child not yet named.
Until we meet again precious heart.
The extra is of the 'full of life' 2 they do have as we walked Memphis to Kindergarten this morning.
