What is this?

This odd, low growing plant with red tips is growing in abundance in parts of our meadow area.  I've been totally unable to identify it - can anyone help?

I've had a long day sitting in front of the computer, working at home on my "day off".  Occasional forays down the garden to stretch my legs and breathe the fresh air have prevented me from dropping asleep at my desk.
