Chapel Down Vineyard , no sorry - Winery
I learned something today while wine tasting at the Chapel Down Winery in Tenterden, Kent, wondering why it as called a winery and not a vineyard. Grapes grow in vineyards and not all vineyards make wine on site. Wineries make wine from lots of vineyards and do not necessarily grow them. Chapel Down grows its own and processes grapes from vineyards all over Southern Britain so it's both a winery and a vineyard. I was driving so could not drink much but to be honest most of the wines sampled were much too tart for my taste. I guess that's English wine for you. They did tell us that someone has planted a vineyard in Scotland. They must be praying for global warming.
