This week in 1955, The Yellow Rose of Texas by The Mitch Miller Orchestra and Chorus was number 2 in the American charts and Rose Marie by Slim Whitman (which use to be, and is still, warbled with monotonous regularity by my Dad) was number 1 in the UK charts.
