Blackley

This is Blackley Baptist Church, which I noticed recently when we met friends at the Golden Fleece Inn there.  I found out that James Cartledge - a senior deacon who had been expelled from membership of his previous church in 1772 had promised that 'if God would prosper him he would build him a house.'  His business flourished and Blackley Baptist Church was completed in 1789.  I thought the style of the church was well suited to the bleakness of the day,
