Nesting time

at the edge of the Lake.  This area is currently roped off and It is illegal to enter as it is the breeding area of the black billed gulls which are only found in New Zealand and are protected.  Their status is listed as 'nationally critical'.  Of all the hundreds and hundreds of birds I saw today I could only see one black billed gull.  It was so interesting watching them gathering anything suitable and taking it back the short distance to their nests.  I will be back.
