Vive la Difference in les Îles de la Manche

Yellow telephone boxes in Jersey and blue post boxes in Guernsey. If ever there was a Channel islands' statement indicating their separateness from Britain, this is it.

We are briefly in Guernsey before sailing to St Malo. At the time I booked the crossing, this seemed the only way to get to St Malo on a Tuesday at this time of year, but it now appears I was wrong and we could have sailed directly from Jersey. I live and learn.

Encumbered as we are with hand luggage we are not moving from the ferry terminal to explore St Peter's Port - another time maybe.
