Great film, rubbish line!
Not this train line, obviously. It is brilliant!
There is a point in the film 'The Third Man where I can be heard muttering 'What about the railways?'. I do it every time I see the film, I can't help it, but luckily I am not usually in a cinema! This is because the line comes at the dramatic point when Lime is trying to justify his murderous activities by suggesting that peace is not necessarily desirable. Switzwerland+peace=cockoo clocks. What rubbish! In fairness to Graham Greene I don't think the line is in the original book. But it does show how one should distrust the clever phrase.
Anyway this amazing trian line is over 100 years old. Swiss railways must surely be one of the engineering wonders of the world.
