St Michael's Mount
A wonderful last day of mobility today, and a showcase of both ends of the National Trust spectrum. Astoundingly though, this blip was taken a few minutes walk from where we're staying.
We started the day at Godrevy Towans, managed by the Trust, with a lovely walk along the headland, first passing the surfers at the near perfect sandy beach of St Ives Bay, then rock pooling along towards Godrevy lighthouse. It was here that I took the picture of the beautiful little birds in extras. Being an infrequent visitor to the coast I'm not 100%, but I think they are Turnstones. As ever happy to be corrected if someone knows better.
Then after a lunch, with an eye on the tide times, we headed to Marazion to walk with the hordes across the causeway to St Michael's Mount. Usually I'm not keen on crowds or indeed stately home castle type trips, but the Mount turned out to be an impressive and improbable place, enjoyed it immensely.
But best of all this evening we wandered down to Basore Point at Perranuthnoe and watched nature put on this stunning show. Dinner in one of 2016's 50 best pubs of the year was an excellent last meal....
