The Jimmy Shand Band!
I'll tell you at the end.
This picture belies a decadent take away meal for dinner tonight. From the nearest parking point you walk perhaps 500 metres to get to where the burn (actually spill water from a control weir on the nearby Caledonian Canal) decants to the loch. After walking over a footbridge you edge through some bushes to reach the shore. This trodden path was blocked by a man sleeping beside his bicycle. Rather than startle him I took a much longer way round to reach the photo point just a few paces from him but seaward now. I proceeded quietly but just then he woke from his slumber.
He spoke with a deep south -London I think- accent and started lambasting a lady who earlier in the day woke him to see if he was okay (or needed an ambulance) No he just wanted left alone "know what I mean?". He continued talking at me loudly, slagged people from Berlin and Southend (honestly) who similarly shared concern for his well being, presumably on the occassion of similar naps.
Snaps taken, I was now watching the clock aware the take away would be ready for collection shortly. I edged past him politely and he was stil talking a lot.
With twenty paces of separation I looked back and he was getting on his bike;
"You know what I mean?" again.
Keen to satisfy his desire to be left alone I had picked up a decent stride now and looked back once more. He shouted really loudly,
"The Jimmy Shand Band!"
