Villa Balbianello

We finally decided to visit this villa which I have always avoided due to the number of tourists and cost. It turned out to be a very interesting visit and unexpected surprise to learn a bit about the last eclectic owner Mr. Guido Monzino, an alpinist and geographical explorer, leading trips to Mount Everest and the North Pole for example.

On the door to his tomb which he dug on the grounds "Gradatim conscenditur ad alta."
