Raydale

     6 Years of Blipping !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ( a few gaps here and there)

A fine sunny Sunday, that is until we drove down into Leeds where we hit fog.
However 80 miles later, by the time we reached Bainbridge, the fog had cleared.
We parked by the historic village green, owned in trust for the people of Bainbridge since 1663.
We set off with the rest of our walking group, crossed the bridge by the two tier weir, and walked along beside the river Bain. The shortest river in England.This is Raydale, just south of Wensleydale.
On to Semerwater. The second largest natural lake in North Yorkshire, evolving over thousands and thousands of years, but ancient legend says it was created by an angel. The Ledgend of Semerwater
Our lunch stop was in the grounds of the ruined 17th C  church of Stalling Busk on the banks of Semerwater.
It was then a climb up to the top of Wether Fell. Quite hard for some of us! However we were rewarded with some wonderful views over the lake and hills beyond.
Back down to Bainbridge along the old Roman Road.
An 8 mile walk. No idea how many steps! 
 One of the so called farm tracks, now being used by motor bikers, ( see photo) Was almost impassable. I think the worst path we have ever come across.
Back in Bainbridge and it was off to the Rose and Crown for a shandy, and a well earned rest.
The pub dates back to the 15th century, and this is where you will find the Forest Horn. In medieval times the village was surrounded by forests, full of wolves and other wild animals.This horn was blown on winter evenings to guide the forestors and other travellers to the safety of the village.It is still blown on special occaisons to this day.
By the time we got back home I was to tired to sort all my photos out, and so this blip is a day late!

I can hardly believe it is six ( and a bit) years since I started blipping.
A big thank you to all  my followers, and those who have dropped by and given such kind comments stars and hearts.
I have made many friends both virtual and actual.
My biggest thank you of all goes to the people who have kept Blip going when we thought it was lost for ever.
