Pumpkin Pie anyone?
To the Germans pumkins aren't just for Hallowe'en (which almost doesn't happen here) but rather for the decorating of one's front step during the autumn. I shall wait till the week before Hallowe'en before going out to buy the biggest pumpkins I can find and carving faces into them.
