Slow For Penguins

My Dear Fellow & Princess Normal,

Another day, another long walk. I'm determined to map the city centre out in my head, although it is me we are talking about here, so it will take a while.

It seems to me that I can only map a city by the places that are important to me. So I walked to the cinema on Courtenay Place again, but this time via a different route. It takes about 30 minutes from Aurora.

I also trekked over to Oriental Bay and felt like I didn't belong. It is beautiful over there, but here were lots of people on skateboards or roller-blading. It's very cool and very pretty, but I am not. Certainly not on rollerblades.

But I do like the smell of Wellington, there is lots of food going on everywhere - and what IS that intriguing, exotic smell...?

Oh. It's a Nando's. How embarrassing.

But THIS one smells AMAZING...

It's a Subway. I used to pass one every day on Hanover Street.

But just when I thought that Wellington was totally wasted on me, I started noticing these signs painted on the concrete. Apparently Oriental Parade is a thoroughfare for slow penguins.

And I think I've found my place.

S.

p.s. In the extras I include the photo of the man with the bare bum leaning into the wind that visitors by law have to take when in Wellington.
