Jacaranda tree

After the excitement of yesterday's ceremony at the Barbican, I had just about enough time to sit down for a cup of tea, finish packing and a quick shower before heading for the airport. The 11 hour overnight flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg was tedious and sleepless, but the one hour connecting flight across the border to Bulawayo in Zimbabwe was much more exciting, not to mention extremely bumpy. First impressions of this part of the country are that it's laid back and serene - an abundance of Jacaranda trees providing a pastel complement to the cloudless blue skies. In the morning I will be heading off to  followed by four days of data gathering in schools.
