Duckling on Golden Pond

The new leaves on the elm turned the pond to gold where they were reflected in the water.

This is the first duckling sighting for me this spring. There were nine and they were zipping to and fro across the pond while the parents looked on benignly.

There were millions of little midges in the air and I think that is what the ducklings were chasing.

I am not long back from seeing the movie Victoria and Abdul. What a good film it was.  It is my elder daughters 50th birthday today and I got home just in time  to Skype with her - she lives in Germany.  It is hard to grasp the idea that I have a 50 year old daughter - I just don't feel old enough:-))
