BERGEN IN THE SUN!

Nostalgia trip for me - having turned on the box to see the last stragglers of the Women's Elite (Cycle) Road Race puffing over the finish line. I grabbed this view of Bergen off the screen.

I visited Bergen as a 3rd. Mate on S.S. Nevasa in 1962. The Nevasa had been converted from a prestige passenger ship to a school-ship & we took 1500 teenagers from Leith across the North Sea in a North Westerly gale.

Imagination encouraged!

We stayed in Bergen for three days - it didn't stop raining for a minute!

The Nevasa suffered a final metamorphosis to become a hospital ship for the Falklands war - she has been trashed RIP.
