Built in 1896.

There's something about this door that I like.  The fact that the handle is in the middle of the door for a start.  The old red glass.  And why does the word "Salve" appear in the middle of the door.

And because I'm a curious type I was off to Duden (German equivalent of the OED if you will) where I discovered that Salve is a Latin greeting.

There was another city festival underway today which meant that the city centre was mobbed.  That's not my thing.

And it was around that point in the day I relaised I was out without my mobile phone.  This is not a good thing when you're on call.  So i hared home as fast as I could, hoping that nothing had happened and the phone had stayed silent.  Almost sprinted the last 500 meters home, got in and asked G if anyone had called... 

And she said "Yes".

And I just about had a heart attack - a million versions of the word "SHIT" in my head, absolute sense of panic and then G said "My mum phoned".  And the sense of relief was so strong that I thought I was going to be sick.

The adrenalin surge has all but passed now.  And I still feel horrible.
